How to pick a shop...
You have freedom of choice when it comes to selecting an auto body repair facility, but what criteria should be used in determining which shop to use.
Below are some options to consider when selection a qualified auto collision repair shop:
- Does the shop offer a warranty against defects in workmanship, and if so, how long and what work is covered with the guarantee?
- How will your car be stored while in the care of the shop and what is there local reputation?
- Does the shop have all local, state and federal licenses and permits, and operate in accordance with regulations? (Business licenses, Sales Tax I.D. Number, Federal Tax I.D. Number, Fire, Electrical Code and EPA Compliance, Workers Compensation Insurance, OSHA requirements, EPA Number, etc.)
- Does the shop get written authorization for any additional services performed on the vehicle and price adjustments that may occur prior to the repair or replacement?
- How long has the shop been in business and the overall experience of the staff along with certification for your praticular car maker?
- Does the shop have a defined and written customer handling process?
- Does the shop have the ability to process credit cards for deductibles and other purchases?
